Improved Digital Color X-ray Imaging Technology

Clinicians may find more early tumors by low-dose X-ray examinations in the future. Color X-ray technology can be used for medical diagnosis.

Digital Color X-ray technology is based on the advanced technology by which the atomic physicist find new element of particles. This color X-ray camera will narrow the large-scale testing equipment the atomic physicist used into a size of microscope.

Each pixel electronic circuit of the camera image sensor must be able to incorporate a 55 x 55μm region, and must be able to tolerate x-ray. Researchers of Mid Sweden University (Sundsvall, Sweden) have solved these designing problems. They has made it clear that the technology called Medipix2 can reduce the radiation dose in dental X-ray examination. Industry experts also look forward to using the technology in the X-ray examination of the consistency of materials.

At the end of the decade of the twentieth century, Medipix2 cooperation program launched with the aim of using the advantages of deep sub-micron complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) to narrow the pixel size and increase the number of pixels in each chip. Medipix2 chip is the outcome of this effort.

Doctor Börje Norlin said, "with our digital color X-ray technology, the X-ray radiation risk can be reduced by half." Mid Sweden University has also used the sophisticated computer simulation technology of the next generation of X-ray cameras and developed to improve the quality of color X-ray.

These cameras have a higher resolution, and can display more colors and higher quality.
